Let’s Talk Ingredients
We feel every ingredient adds to the overall taste and texture; if you remove one, it’s like you’ve removed them all.
- Milk โ use cashew milk or your favorite.
- Banana โ use a fresh, cold banana.
- Mango โ the best mangos for a thicker consistency are frozen. You can save the hassle of skinning and slicing mangos by purchasing a frozen bag.
- Turmeric โ although we love fresh turmeric, ground turmeric can work just as well in smoothies. One teaspoon of pulverized turmeric is equal to one inch of fresh turmeric.
- Cinnamon โ use ground ceylon cinnamon because its flavor is sweet, and has a beautiful, fresh aroma and exquisite taste.
- Coconut Oil โ use a good quality oil; we use extra virgin coconut oil because it doesnโt leave a bad aftertaste.
- Salt โ use himalayan salt; it brings out the flavor and offsets the sweetness.
- Protein Powder โ we use organic raw vegan protein powder vanilla; it is 100% plant-based, free of common allergens, and is rich and tasty. Protein powder is used to bump up the protein and add extra flavor and richness to the porridge. Feel free to substitute with your favorite. The powder must be creamy, not grainy.
For more detailed ingredients, see the recipe card.
Customizations
Here are some foodie alternatives should you want to make some changes:
- Banana โ consider silken tofu, kiwi, or cantaloupes.
- Mango โ pineapples and oranges are just as sweet as mango.
- Protein Powder โ use your favorite protein powder, such as whey powder, pea protein powder, rice protein powder, or any other. The vanilla flavor works best, but the chocolate flavor is equally good.
When substituting ingredients, it’s essential to remember that the smoothie taste, texture, and overall result might differ, particularly if you’re substituting many ingredients.
If you have made the turmeric smoothie with any customizations, we’d love to hear about it; please message us in the comments.
Instructions – Overview
Turmeric smoothie is easy to make and is even easier to eat; the most time-consuming part is the blending! Here’s a breakdown of how to get started on your baking journey (more detailed instructions are in the recipe card):

โถ๏ธ Making a nutritious smoothy is incredibly easy. First, melt the coconut oil in the microwave for 30 seconds in a jug or bowl. Add the milk, cinnamon, salt, turmeric, chopped fruit, and protein powder to the jug. If you’re using capsules, open and add them to the mix, then discard the capsule shells.
โถ๏ธ Blend well, then add your decorations.

Smoothies Vs Milkshakes
Smoothies and milkshakes are popular blended beverages, but they have some key differences in ingredients and texture. Here are the main distinctions between the two:
Smoothies:
โถ๏ธ Smoothies typically have a fruit or vegetable base, often made with fresh or frozen fruits and/or vegetables.
โถ๏ธ The liquid component in smoothies can vary, including fruit juice, yogurt, milk (dairy or plant-based), or water.
โถ๏ธ Smoothies are generally thicker and have a more substantial texture due to using fruits, vegetables, and sometimes yogurt. They are often perceived as healthier because they include whole, unprocessed ingredients.
โถ๏ธ Smoothies can be nutrient-dense, providing a good source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber from fruits and vegetables.
โถ๏ธ Various ingredients, including protein powders, greens, nuts, seeds, and supplements, can be used to customize smoothies.
Milkshakes:
โถ๏ธ Milkshakes have a dairy or non-dairy milk base combined with ice cream, resulting in a creamy and sweet beverage.
โถ๏ธ The primary liquid in a milkshake is milk, but some recipes might use alternatives like almond milk or soy milk.
โถ๏ธ Milkshakes have a smooth and creamy texture, mainly due to the presence of ice cream. They are often sweetened with sugar or flavored syrups.
โถ๏ธ Milkshakes are generally higher in calories and sugar than smoothies due to the inclusion of ice cream. They are often considered more indulgent or treat-like.
โถ๏ธ Milkshakes typically have a sweeter flavor profile and are associated with dessert or treat categories. They come in various flavors, including chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry.
The main differences between smoothies and milkshakes are their base ingredients, texture, nutritional content, and intended purpose. Smoothies are often considered healthier and more versatile, while milkshakes are considered a sweet and indulgent treat.

โถ๏ธ Any fruit can be used in our fruity turmeric smoothie, but we chose banana and mango because theyโre sweet and would mask the turmeric flavor.
โถ๏ธ For an extra special twist, top with your favorite cream, and sprinkle your favorite nuts.
โถ๏ธ If youโre looking for ultra sweetness or extra flavor in your smoothie besides bananas and mangos, why not throw in a teaspoon or two of raw honey or a couple of juicy Medjool dates?
