Instructions – Overview
Creamy fish pie is easy to make and is even easier to eat. Here’s a breakdown of how to get started on your baking journey (more detailed instructions are in the recipe card):

โถ๏ธ The first important step is to make the mashed potato by first peeling and chopping them into chunks. Add the potatoes to a pan of cold water, then boil them until tender. This usually takes about 10-15 minutes. When softened, drain and mash them with butter, creme fraiche, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside.
โถ๏ธ Next, preheat your oven to Gas 6, 200ยฐC, 392ยฐF, then grease the baking dish and set aside. If you’re using frozen mashed potato, defrost thoroughly. Empty the contents into a bowl, leave to defrost or microwave until defrosted. Once defrosted, fluff up using a fork.
โถ๏ธ For the filling, skin the cod, salmon, and haddock and chop into chunks. Add to the baking dish. Add the prawns and peas and stir the contents well. Combine the cheese sauce, lemon dill sauce, and mustard in a bowl, then mix well and pour over the fish.
โถ๏ธ Spoon the mashed potatoes over the fish mixture, leveling it out with a fork. Sprinkle your favorite grated cheese over the mashed potatoes, then place in the oven and cook for 35 minutes. Once thoroughly cooked, allow the fish pie to cool slightly before serving.

Pairing
Creamy Fish Pie is frequently eaten as a standalone, but it can easily be paired. Here are some suggestions and our favorite go-to’s what to eat with it:

โถ๏ธ When we eat fish pie, we usually pair it with green vegetables and garlic bread. You can use any bread you choose, such as ciabatta, Keto Bread, crusty bread, dinner rolls, or for something extra fancy focaccia bread.
โถ๏ธ If you fancy going the extra mile, serve the fish pie with a refreshing side salad featuring mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, and a light vinaigrette. The salad provides a contrast in texture and adds a burst of freshness.
โถ๏ธ Steam some asparagus or green beans as a side. Their slightly crunchy texture and vibrant green color will add a pop of color and freshness to the plate.
โถ๏ธ Roasted root vegetables like carrots, parsnips, and potatoes can be served alongside the fish pie. The natural sweetness and caramelization of the roasted vegetables provide a satisfying contrast to the creamy filling.
โถ๏ธ Most often, there’s a serving or two left over, so the next day, we’ll use it up as is.
