Here are some top tips to help you succeed in making a Luxury Creamy Fish Pie like a pro:
- If you're unsure whether your fish is cooked through, use a thermometer. Our favorite is Thermapen.
- It is crucial to whip the mashed potatoes with creme fraiche until it's creamy and smooth. This creates a luxurious topping that balances the flavors of the fish filling.
- Adding a splash of dry white wine to the sauce can add a depth of extra flavor. It complements the seafood and brings out subtle nuances in the dish.
- If you want your food to be spicier, sprinkle some chili flakes on top of the potato layer before adding cheese.
- Bake the fish pie until it is golden brown on top, and the filling is bubbling. This ensures the potatoes are fully cooked, and the flavors meld together.
- After removing the fish pie from the oven, allow it to rest for a few minutes. This helps the flavors settle, making it easier to serve and enjoy.
- For convenience, the prawns should be bought without shells.
- Before serving, let it rest for 5 minutes for the best flavor and texture.
