  4. Blend all the ingredients until you get a smooth and creamy mousse-like consistency. If you're using a food processor, you may need to stop and scrape down the sides to ensure everything is well combined.
  5. Taste the mousse and adjust the sweetness by adding more agave nectar if desired.
  6. Once you are satisfied with the taste and texture, transfer the mousse to individual serving dishes or one large bowl.
  7. Cover the mousse with plastic wrap, making sure it touches the surface to prevent browning, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill and set.
  8. Before serving, you can garnish the mousse with sliced bananas, shaved dark chocolate, whipped cream, chopped nuts, or fresh berries for added texture and presentation.

Notes

Here are some top tips to help you succeed in making banana avocado mousse like a pro:
  1. The best avocados to use are Hass, not Californian or Floridian. While ripe avocados are essential, avoid using overripe ones, as they might have an overpowering taste and could spoil the mousse. Choose semi-ripe avocados for the best flavor and texture. Ripe avocados should be slightly soft to the touch and yield when gently squeezed.
  2. Choose semi-ripe bananas for the best flavor and texture. Ripe bananas will have yellow peels with brown spots, indicating their sweetness.
  3. Ripe bananas will add natural sweetness to the mousse; we use only a small amount of sweetener, which can be adjusted to your liking.
  4. Opt for unsweetened cocoa powder or cacao if you're adding cocoa and want a healthier mousse. You can control the sweetness level.
  5. Thoroughly blend the avocados and bananas to achieve a smooth and creamy mousse. Eliminating lumps or chunks is essential for a velvety texture.
  6. After blending, refrigerate the mousse for at least an hour to allow it to chill and set. Chilling will improve the texture and enhance the flavors.
  7. Bananas: Substitute with silken tofu, kiwi, cantaloupes, or mangos.
